Moongates and Pillars and Crescents, Oh My!

1/14/2020

So many styles to choose from!  While I have created numerous floral arches, floral pillars and moongate arches for my clients, I must admit, my favourite of late is the beautiful 2 piece crescent arch.  This design invites the eye to follow along the natural curvature of the arch, and uses texture and color to create depth and interest.  It's asymmetrical style creates drama and romance, as the main crescent  breaks off and then connects to its smaller counterpart to re-establish the flow.  It’s a stunning way to connect your outdoor spaces, and provides a beautiful focal point and backdrop for your wedding ceremony, reception, or photo booth backdrop.

The value of a flower

1/24/2019

In this world of endless pinterest and online social media, we are inundated with so many inspirational photos of wedding florals.  While it can be a great tool for floral designers to better understand what our clients are looking for, it can be a stumbling block as there is never a price tag attached to any of these visuals.  Add to that large box stores offering flowers at extremely low prices, and it makes it difficult for many of my prospective clients to navigate around the reality of the price tag.  I came across this article, and want to share it with you as it is such a valuable read.

Ombre Flower Design with leftover Valentine's flowers

2/21/2017

So, here we are, a few days past Valentine's, recuperating :)  What to do with the leftovers?  Along with the beautiful red Freedom roses, I received Tiffany peach and Tropical Amazon orange roses.

I had an idea in my head, an ombre color design, and just started working at it.  White freesias, Anastasia disbuds, and antirrhinum (funny how I always remember the latin name instead of it's more common name, snapdragon), and then the peaches, oranges, and reds.

Practice is always good, here's the end result.....
Ombre Casket Spray design, a little different than the usual :)

SPRING FLOWERS ALREADY?

1/9/2017

Well, 2 weeks into January, and the hyacinths, daffodils, and pussywillows are making their way into our neck of the woods.   Here's our latest shipment of flowers, check out our designs of the week to see what designs we've come up with.

TIP:  When purchasing cut hyacinth or cutting your own, try to leave the bulb intact as this will promote further bud opening. Rinse thoroughly, then process as usual by placing in water with floral preservative.
